Creating an Emission Boundaries
Defining your Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emission Boundaries is the foundational step in understanding and reporting your organisation's carbon footprint.
NetNada helps you clearly outline the operational and organisational limits that determine which emissions are included in your carbon inventory, following established GHG Protocol standards. This comprehensive guide will walk you through setting up your boundaries from start to finish.

Starting an Emission Boundary Assessment
Go to Identify > Emissions Boundaries
To define a new set of boundaries, click the "+ New Assessment" button.
You will then be taken to the "Define Your GHG Inventory Boundaries" page to begin the detailed setup.

Adding details to your emissions boundaries
Name Your Boundary: In the "Emission Boundary Name" field, enter a clear name for this set of boundaries (e.g., "FY2024 Emissions").
Select Legal Structure: Use the dropdown under "Legal Structure" to choose the entity representing your reporting.
Choose Consolidation Approach: Carefully select one of the three options: "Operational Control," "Financial Control," or "Equity Share." This choice impacts how emissions data will be included.
Operational Control: Select this if your company has the authority to implement environmental policies at the operations from which emissions arise. This includes 100% of emissions from facilities you control.
Financial Control: Choose this if your company has the ability to direct the financial and operating policies of an operation.
Equity Share: Select this if you will include emissions according to your company's share of equity in each operation.
Selecting a node
This is where you add what parts of your business will be included for measurement.
This is an important step. Learn more about Nodes and Organisation Structures here.
Review the "Facilities, Locations & Subsidiaries" table. For each location or entity, click the checkbox to include it in this specific emissions boundary.
If a necessary node is missing, click "+ Add Node" to add it (this will open the "Admin Panel - Nodes" interface).

Once satisfied with your organisational structure, click "Next" to proceed to the Scope 1 emissions definition. Remember to "Save Progress" regularly!
