Defining Scope 3

This section deals with other indirect GHG emissions that occur in your company’s value chain, both upstream and downstream. Scope 3 emissions are often the most challenging to quantify but are crucial for a complete carbon footprint.

Measuring tip: if you need clarification on what should or should not be included please get in contact with NetNada support. You can also change these selections later.

Step-by-step Guide: Defining Scope 3 Emissions

  1. Navigate to Identify > Emissions Boundaries and go to the "Scope 3" tab.

  2. Go through the "Upstream Categories" and "Downstream Categories" by clicking their respective tabs.

  3. For each category, carefully read the question about its significance to your operations.

  4. Select "Yes" if it is significant, "No" if it's not, or "Unknown/Need to investigate" if you need more information.

Tip for Climate Reporting Specialists: Scope 3 requires significant data gathering and understanding of your entire value chain. Use "Unknown/Need to investigate" to flag areas requiring further assessment.

  1. If you select "Yes" or "Unknown/Need to investigate" for a category, select the relevant nodes from the provided list by clicking their checkboxes.

Once you have reviewed and completed all relevant Scope 3 categories, click "Next". Your GHG Inventory Boundary Definition is now complete! Remember to "Save Progress" regularly!
